PCPS Installing Desk Shields in Elementary Classrooms

Spread the love

Polk County Public Schools has begun installing desk shields at elementary schools throughout the district. The clear plastic shields are mounted on students’ desks and are intended to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The devices can be easily moved for regular cleaning. PCPS has ordered approximately 50,000 desk shields and began installing them about two weeks ago. The process should be complete within another month. With additional federal funding now available, we are implementing this extra safety measure to help protect our K-5 elementary students, who often work in close proximity to each other and are not currently eligible for COVID-19 vaccines.
