PCPS Announces Presidential Scholars Honorees for 2022

Polk County Public Schools is proud to announce our honorees for the 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The U.S. Department of Education initiative recognizes high school seniors for their accomplishments in academics, the arts, and career and technical education (CTE). Each year, up to 161 students are named Presidential Scholars at the national level. It is considered “one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.” Eligible PCPS students are those who are in good academic standing, who either score high on the SAT/ACT or demonstrate achievement in CTE programs. Congratulations to our district winners for 2022: Nathan Calzat from Lake Gibson High, and Sam Weldon from Lake Region High. They will represent PCPS at the state level for the Presidential Scholars Program. We also congratulate these outstanding Polk County students named as finalists this year: Auburndale High: Anthony Dibiasie, Philip Shaske Bartow High: Robert Belcher Bartow IB: Judd Parker, Sachin Sivakumar Chain of Lakes Collegiate High: Landen Christine Nations, Fabian Raul Rosario Fort Meade High: Timothy Bearden, Trevor Town Frostproof High: Cori Mendes, Yaritsi Palacios Vargas George Jenkins High: Haliah Brooks, Kaylee Sweet Haines City High: Kaleigh Ruis, Ileanys Campos Sanchez Haines City IB: Jasmin Pruthi, Selin Shilts Harrison School for the Arts: Andrew Cheyne, Kim-Tien Vo Lake Gibson High: Nathan Calzat, Bianca Gutierrez Lake Region High: Ellysa Ireland, Sam Weldon Lakeland High: Hunter Hitchcock, Neysha Velez Vasquez McKeel Academy: Emma Keim, Jacob Plemons Mulberry High: Chandler Crawshaw, Jerry Ibar Ridge Community High: Alyson Bences Summerlin Academy: Stephanie Benge, Morgan Grubb Tenoroc High: Jazlyn Gregory, Kasie Smith Traviss Technical College: Juan Avalos Winter Haven High: Anderson Garner, Jonathan Gauthier “These high school seniors deserve to be recognized for their outstanding performance in school,” said John Miller, a PCPS curriculum specialist for Accelerated Programs. “We’re proud to have them represent our district as Presidential Scholars honorees.”
