The Lakeland Reservation Project kicks off phase two

Spread the love

Phase two is underway at the Lakeland Reservation Project, a 150-home reservation for Tampa-area Seminole tribe members who lived where the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa is located, before its 2004 opening.

Located at 9523 Moore Rd. (north of Old Polk County Road + east of Moore Road), the development will sit on nearly 900 acres of land purchased by the tribe in 2007. After years of planning, an official groundbreaking took place on Jan. 23, 2019, and by November of 2020 there were 17 homes.

At phase one’s completion, the reservation had 39 completed homes, seven homes in progress, and completed infrastructure work including roads, water, and sewer. Now that phase two is underway and expected to be completed by the end of 2022, construction on the remaining 100+ homes, which will be available for rent and purchase, will begin this April.

Additionally, phase two will see the design of the Lakeland Community building, including its gymnasium, swimming pool, parking areas, and support services. Once design is complete, construction on the community facilities, which will be available exclusively to residents of the gated community, will begin with hopes to be completed by 2025

Take a look at some fast facts surrounding the community:

Police + other emergency services will be independently provided, with the exception of fire services, which the tribe will contract
Single-family Lennar home models will range in size from 2,100-3,500 sqft, one-acre lots.
Out of roughly 250 Tampa-area tribe members, the 100 who were displaced to make room for the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa will be invited to apply for new homes first.
Of the nearly 900 acres, 180 will be developed. The rest will be left as wetlands to maintain the land’s natural landscape

While construction is underway, we’re keeping our eyes peeled so we can update you as more news breaks regarding the project.
