PCPS Announces New Community Liaison for North Lakeland Area

Spread the love

PCPS has added another community liaison to our ranks. The hiring of Kylia Carswell was approved last month by the Polk County School Board, and she recently started work in the North Lakeland area. Carswell joins PCPS community liaisons Betsy Cleveland (Northeast Polk), Reba Coil (South Lakeland) and Steve Warner (Winter Haven/Auburndale). As the name implies, the liaisons work with community and business partners to address the needs of schools in their respective areas. Such efforts can include recruiting volunteers and committee members, securing donations, and linking businesses with career academies. By handling many of those tasks (which can involve work after regular school hours), the liaisons help reduce the load on school administrators, so they can stay focused on their students and staff. Carswell previously served as the community partnership school director for the Children’s Home Society of Florida, and is a former program manager with the United Way of Central Florida. We wish her the best as a new member of the PCPS family!
