The mission of the 7 Rivers Water Festival is clear: to protect the water resources of Polk County and beyond. Over 50 organizations will be on-site, eager to share valuable information and insights on water conservation. From practical tips for water preservation in your daily life to larger-scale initiatives, you’ll find a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips.
Activities for Everyone
This festival isn’t just about education; it’s about having a great time while you’re at it! Here are some of the exciting activities you can look forward to:
Kayaking on Lake Silver: Take a peaceful paddle on the beautiful Lake Silver. It’s a fantastic way to connect with nature and appreciate the importance of our local water bodies.
Meet and Greet with Animal Ambassadors: Get up close and personal with some incredible animal ambassadors. Learn about their habitats and how we can protect their homes through responsible water management.
Cardboard Boat Race: The much-anticipated Cardboard Boat Race is making a triumphant return! Cheer on your favorite organizations as they compete for the winning title. The race kicks off at 11:30 a.m. on the floating stage at the shoreline of Lake Silver. It’s sure to be a hilarious and thrilling spectacle.
Touch-a-Truck: Kids (and kids at heart) will love the opportunity to get hands-on with various vehicles. This is a chance to explore the machines that play a crucial role in maintaining our water infrastructure.
Polk County Utilities Bio-Wizards
One of the festival’s highlights is the showcase by Polk County Utilities Bio-Wizards. These experts will be demonstrating their Operations Challenge throughout the event.
Imagine watching a team in action, racing against the clock to make repairs on a mock lift station pump and a collection system pipe. It’s a high-stakes demonstration that showcases the skill and dedication required to keep our water systems running smoothly. Educational Presentations
Throughout the day, there will be 15-minute presentations by Polk County’s UF/IFAS Florida-Friendly Landscape Program on the main event stage. These informative sessions will cover a range of topics related to water conservation and sustainability.
