Description
Join us for Japa Meditation. We will use mala beads (necklace) to guide us as we repeat a mantra. This practice is called Japa. Through the repetition of a mantra, we create positive habit patterns which help us to gradually overcome spiritual darkness. You may have heard that a trained mind is your best friend, while an untrained mind is your worst enemy. This practice is a great way to train your mind to become centered
and calm. It is a powerful technique for focusing the mind and harnessing the
body/mind’s subtle energies in pursuing the yogic path of self-transformation.
You will learn several mantras, how to use a mala and how Japa Meditation may
enhance your personal yoga practice of the 8 limbs of Ashtanga yoga as set forth in The
Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Because a mantra can be used anywhere at any time and the mala can be worn as a necklace or bracelet — you can take your Japa practice with you wherever you go, thus leading to a more joyful life!
If you already enjoy a meditation practice, use of the Japa technique may enhance your
capacity for focus and concentration, while at the same time deepening your connection with Divine energy. If you are new to meditation, this is a perfect place to start! You can bring your own mala or borrow one of mine. All are welcome.
